It may be noted that English is the working language and the primary medium of instruction at UM. The University of Macau sincerely invites applications for the position of the Dean of Faculty of Science. Faculty of ScienceThe Faculty of Science was restructured and reorganized from the Faculty of Science and Technology. Its establishment aligns with the strategic needs of the country and the Macao SAR and will provide foundational support in the basic sciences for technological innovation in Macao and nationwide. The Faculty will comprise the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics, the Department of Chemistry, and the Department of Biological Sciences, and is expected to enrol approximately 1,000 students. Dean of Faculty of ScienceThe successful candidate should have considerable experience in faculty management, academic strategic planning, curriculum design, laboratory setup and research development, and must be highly committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service. In particular, the candidates should have the following credentials:An earned doctoral degree in Science or related disciplines;A distinguished record of internationally-recognized research and scholarship;Evidence of outstanding academic leadership, demonstrated commitment to leading research and a record of effective teaching in higher education settings;Ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, drive technological innovation, and establish relationship with diverse stakeholders;Excellent management and communication skills;Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage. RemunerationRemuneration will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience.
