    Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

    We have a vacancy for a permanent, full-time Learning Adviser to work in Te Kahu Tauira (Student and Scholarly Services) to support student academic development. The work is strongly focused on providing online learning support for our students, as well as providing blended learning opportunities to our target groups.

    Te Kahu Tauira is actively engaged in working with our Kaiārahi to strengthen our knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te reo me ōna tikanga, and te ao Māori and we are looking for people who are keen to take this road with us.

    This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent role. The salary range for this role is $73,400 - $78,600 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

    Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

    You will be working with a team of advisers committed to supporting students across all faculties and helping them to improve and develop the academic and skills they need to be successful at the University of Auckland. Part of the team works primarily in the online space developing resources such as Learning Essentials  and learning objects in Canvas;

    it also delivers the academic skills workshop programme which focusses on academic and information literacy. The team has close relationships with other Te Kahu Tauira teams - Client Services, Research Services, Academic Engagement, and the Digital Engagement & Communication Team. Outside of Te Kahu Tauira the team has a collaborative working relationship with Ranga Auaha Ako | Learning Design Service.

    We are looking for people who are passionate about providing learning support to students and who can bring creative thinking into our team. You will be comfortable working in a diverse environment, particularly with Māori, Pacific and international students and English Language learners, and be willing to learn new skills. We need people with ideas and enthusiasm who are willing to share those with the team. Most importantly, you will be flexible and comfortable with innovation and change.

    Important Skills

    You will be able to demonstrate any, or all, of these skills:

    • Ability to support the development of online learning resources and an understanding of how students learn
    • Experience in teaching, presenting or facilitation
    • Experience working with Māori and Pacific students in a tertiary environment
    • Knowledge of learning disabilities and/or how to support students with English language needs
    • Learning design experience
    • Quick to learn new technologies
