The University of Waikato is establishing the New Zealand Graduate School of Medicine (NZGSM), an innovative graduate-entry medical programme designed to improve health equity and strengthen the medical workforce across regional and rural Aotearoa.
As the NZGSM Clinical Placement Network Coordinator, you will play a key role in establishing the hospital-based clinical placement network that will support the NZGSM's distributed education model. Working closely with the Deputy Dean of Medicine, Iwi Engagement Manager, Regional Clinical Leads and Health New Zealand partners, you will coordinate provider agreements, operational systems and readiness activities to ensure hospitals are ready to host medical students from 2029, while supporting the implementation of community and primary care placement opportunities developed through regional partnerships.
This is a highly collaborative establishment role combining project coordination, stakeholder engagement and implementation across multiple hospitals, regions and partner organisations.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until November 2027. Based at our Hamilton campus, with regular travel throughout New Zealand as you work alongside hospitals and regional partners to establish the clinical placement network.
Salary will be in the range of $87,624 to $100,214 per annum, depending on the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the role.

You are a highly organised project or programme coordinator who enjoys bringing people together to deliver meaningful outcomes. You are equally comfortable building trusted relationships with senior clinicians, hospital managers and external partners as you are coordinating complex implementation activities across multiple workstreams.
This role would suit someone with experience in project coordination, clinical education, health service planning, programme implementation or stakeholder engagement who enjoys working across organisational boundaries to deliver lasting outcomes. You thrive in collaborative environments, are solutions-focused, and enjoy turning ideas into practical, well-coordinated initiatives.
You will also bring:
Experience coordinating complex programmes or implementation projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Exceptional relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse organisations and communities.
Experience preparing agreements, coordinating implementation activities, and maintaining accurate records.
The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of organisation and attention to detail.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and adapt within a dynamic environment.
An understanding of partnership-based approaches and a commitment to working in ways that reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Experience in the health sector, tertiary education, clinical education, or workforce development would be advantageous, as would experience working with rural, Māori, or Pacific health providers.
