This exciting opportunity will see you contribute to innovative research exploring how automated advertising shapes Australia's digital media landscape, from the relationships between platforms, advertisers and content creators to its impact on everyday experiences, identities and issues such as data-driven discrimination, scams and harmful advertising.

Working within a collaborative research team, you will investigate emerging developments in automated advertising, undertake research with Australians, and help generate new insights into the social and cultural impacts of digital platforms. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your research profile and contribute to a project addressing one of the most significant challenges in contemporary digital media.

    • Research: Produce high-quality research outputs in line with disciplinary standards, develop a coherent research program and emerging research profile, contribute to collaborative research initiatives, and engage with research partners through the development of innovative digital research infrastructure.

    • Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate citizenship behaviours aligned with UQ's values by contributing to the successful delivery of the project, supporting the activities of the investigators, actively participating in the research culture of the School of Communication and Arts, and building productive relationships with industry, government, professional bodies, and the wider community, where relevant to the project.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.

    About You

    • Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area.

    • An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.

    • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

    • Evidence of collaboration with research teams.

    • Evidence of working with digital methods and infrastructure, as appropriate to the discipline.

    • Some experience in meaningful internal organisational roles and engagement activities.
