    Faculty of Law & Justice

    The Faculty of Law & Justice is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and motivated researchers to join our Casual Research Officer Talent Pool.

    This talent pool will support a range of research projects across the Faculty, including both Law and Criminology disciplines. Successful applicants may be contacted as casual research opportunities arise throughout the year.

    As a Research Officer, you will provide expert research and technical support to academic staff and multidisciplinary research teams. The nature and complexity of the work will vary depending on the project requirements and the classification level of the appointment.

    About the Role

    Research Officer opportunities may involve:

    • Providing expert research and technical support to research projects and multidisciplinary research teams.
    • Conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and evaluation.
    • Maintaining research integrity through data cleaning, verification and management of research databases.
    • Undertaking independent and complex research activities using established research methodologies, including field work where required.
    • Preparing, drafting and reviewing research reports, publications, presentations, ethics applications and grant applications.
    • Liaising with academic staff, research participants and internal and external stakeholders to support research outcomes.
    • Coordinating research activities, including fieldwork logistics, participant recruitment and conferences and events.
    • Responding to complex research enquiries and providing technical advice where required.
    • Supervising or providing guidance to Research Assistants, where appropriate.
    • Supporting project planning, reporting and the achievement of research milestones.

    About You

    To be successful, you will demonstrate:

    • A relevant tertiary qualification, with demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating research projects. Appointments at Level 7 will generally require extensive relevant experience in research project coordination.
    • Demonstrated experience undertaking qualitative and/or quantitative research, including data analysis and reporting.
    • Knowledge of research methodologies, experimental design, ethics processes and research protocols.
    • Proven experience using Microsoft Office and relevant research software, databases or information systems.
    • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, researchers, research participants and stakeholders.
    • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
    • For Level 7 appointments, demonstrated experience in project planning, managing large datasets or databases, and reporting against research milestones will be highly regarded.

    Classification

    This is a casual Research Officer Talent Pool.

    Appointments may be made at Research Officer Level 6 or Level 7, depending on the requirements of the role and the successful candidate's qualifications, skills and experience.
