    About This Opportunity  

    The UQ Library is seeking a Research Output and Impact Specialist to help researchers maximise the visibility, impact and reach of their work. Working within the Research Outputs and Impact team in the library, you will provide expert advice, training and reporting services that support research evaluation, bibliometrics and informed decision-making across the University.

    This rare 5.5-month fixed-term/secondment opportunity offers the chance to build specialist expertise in research metrics and evaluation while partnering with researchers and research units to support UQ's research excellence and strategic priorities.

    Key responsibilities will include:  

    • Providing specialist advice on research metrics, bibliometrics, altimetric and research evaluation.

    • Developing high-quality reports, training resources and recommendations to support researchers and research units.

    • Building strong relationships with researchers and stakeholders internal and external to UQ to promote and enhance research output and impact services.

    • Delivering training and capability-building initiatives to improve understanding and use of research metrics and evaluation tools.

    • Contribute as an effective library team member including leading and/or participating in planning, activities and the delivery of team and broader Library goals.

    This is a Part-time (60%), Fixed term/Secondment position until 18/12/26 at HEW Level 7. 

    About You  

    You are an excellent communicator and detailed-orientated professional who demonstrates strong problem solving and analytical skills to develop effective solutions. You bring a deep understanding of the research environment, research evaluation, and bibliometrics and thrive in a collaborative environment.

    You will demonstrate:

    • University degree with substantial experience working in a university library or research support environment.

    • Experience working in environments requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, including written reports and presentations.

    • Advanced understanding and ability to manipulate numeric data and statistics (including bibliometric indicators).

    • Strong knowledge of research evaluation, research outputs, bibliometrics and high-level skills in the use of associated reporting tools and technologies.

    • Excellent organisation skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively against differing timelines or changing priorities.

    • Drive and enthusiasm with a strong work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    • Excellent team player working collaboratively with others, with a positive and cooperative attitude, and a mindset of inclusivity and support for colleagues.
