Base salary will be in the range $106,709 - $116,198 + 17% super (HEW Level 7)

About This Opportunity
Join a collaborative, high-performing cyber security engineering team at UQ and play a pivotal role in safeguarding one of Australia’s leading universities. As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you will design, implement and optimise security capabilities that protect critical systems, data and people across a dynamic and complex digital environment. Working within Information Technology Services, you will partner with technical specialists and stakeholders across the University to strengthen security maturity and resilience in the face of evolving cyber threats.
Key responsibilities will include:
Designing, implementing and maintaining cyber security solutions to protect enterprise systems and data
Providing advanced technical support for security services and continuously improving service delivery outcomes
Engaging with stakeholders across the University to deliver expert cyber security advice and solutions
Leading and mentoring team members while promoting agile practices and continuous improvement
About You
You are an inquisitive and solutions-focused cyber security professional who thrives in complex environments and is motivated by purpose. You bring strong technical capability and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Relevant qualifications in information technology or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Demonstrated experience across multiple cyber security domains such as network, cloud, endpoint or email security
Knowledge of vulnerability and risk management practices and security monitoring tools such as SIEM platforms
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders
A proactive and innovative mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence
Up-to-date knowledge of emerging cyber threats, technologies and global best practices
