Full-time, fixed-term position until August 2027 with Base salary in the range $106,709 - $116,198 + 17% super (HEW Level 7)
Based at our Vibrant St Lucia Campus.
About This Opportunity
Join UQ as a Principal Student Counsellor (Gender Based Violence) within a dedicated student services team delivering high-impact counselling, wellbeing, and advisory support. This parental leave backfill presents a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference, providing advanced, evidence-based care for students with complex, sensitive, or high-risk needs.
You’ll also contribute to programs and service improvement, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment to support student wellbeing, safety, and engagement across UQ
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide expert counselling and wellbeing support for complex cases
Offer specialist support to students who have experienced gender-based violence
Deliver impactful programs that enhance student wellbeing
Provide trusted advice on mental health, safety and equity matters
Drive service improvement through insights, data and best practice
About You
Relevant degree with 4+ years’ experience or equivalent combination
Demonstrated experience in delivering specialist counselling to survivors of gender-based violence
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted relationships
Ability to manage complex, sensitive and high-risk matters autonomously
Sound judgement with strong problem-solving and risk assessment skills
Experience interpreting policy, legislation and professional standards
Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent written communication and reporting capability
Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
