Lecturer (Education Focused) – School of Population Health
- Employment Type: Part-time (21 hours a week)
- Duration: 3-Year Fixed Term contract
- Remuneration: $133,065 base pro rata, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
- Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.

School of Population Health
The School of Population Health (SPH) UNSW is internationally recognised as a leader in public health with research strengths across a range of health disciplines, including infectious diseases and immunisation. SPH has a core focus to investigate and provide new knowledge to help inform policy, governance, organisation, work, and leadership in the health sector through cross disciplinary research with both academia and industry. SPH also has strong associations with research centres and institutes throughout UNSW Medicine.
Details of the role
UNSW’s Education Focussed roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the educational experience of postgraduate students through innovative teaching and curriculum design. You will play a key role in delivering engaging learning experiences, developing contemporary resources, and supporting diverse student cohorts to achieve strong academic and employability outcomes. Working collaboratively within a dynamic academic community, you will contribute to advancing teaching practices, leveraging educational technologies, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to continuous improvement in pedagogy and eager to make a meaningful impact in higher education.
The role of Lecturer reports to Associate Professor and has no direct reports.
Some key skills required:
- A PhD in Biostatistics or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience;
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level;
- Capacity to teach using First Nations culturally capable approaches, or willingness to develop this capability;
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods;
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales);
- Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning;
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments;
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills;
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
