    • Base salary will be in the range $145,961- $168,043 + 17% super (Academic Level C)

    About This Opportunity  

    Shape the foundations of tomorrow’s medical practice. As Academic Lead, Clinical Skills, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering an innovative, future-focused clinical skills curriculum with a particular focus on Years 1 and 2 of the UQ Doctor of Medicine program.

    Working within a collaborative environment, you will partner with academic leaders, clinicians, professional staff, and teaching teams across Learning Communities and clinical schools to ensure a seamlessly integrated and high-quality student experience.

    This is a unique opportunity to influence how aspiring doctors develop the core capabilities that underpin safe, compassionate, and effective clinical care, while contributing to a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.

    Key responsibilities will include:  

    • Teaching: Lead and deliver the Clinical Skills curriculum across Years 1 and 2, including curriculum design, teaching, assessment, educator development, and ensuring alignment with program outcomes and university standards.

    • Research: Apply and contribute to evidence-based medical education through scholarship of teaching and learning, collaborative projects, and the development of innovative curriculum and teaching practices.

    • Supervision and Researcher Development: Lead, mentor, and support academic staff and educators, including performance development, capability building, and fostering a culture of responsible practice and continuous improvement.

    • Citizenship and Service: Contribute to leadership, governance, and service across the MD program by engaging in committees, partnerships, and administrative responsibilities while upholding university values and an inclusive culture.

    You are a collaborative and forward-thinking clinician educator with a passion for shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Bringing a strong foundation in clinical skills teaching and curriculum design, you are motivated by innovation in medical education and committed to fostering an engaging, high-quality learning experience for students. You thrive in a team-oriented academic environment, where your leadership, communication, and ability to influence positive change can make a meaningful impact.

    You will also have:

    • A medical qualification with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, combined with demonstrated expertise in teaching and assessing core clinical skills.

    • Strong experience in curriculum design, development, and alignment with learning outcomes, including the integration of clinical skills across the program.

    • Proven ability to design and implement effective, evidence-based assessment strategies that support student learning and progression.

    • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with academic, clinical, and professional colleagues.

    • Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring educators, supporting team development, and contributing to a positive and inclusive culture.

    • A commitment to educational excellence, continuous improvement, and the application of contemporary pedagogical approaches within medical education.
