    About This Opportunity  

    Join a dynamic and collaborative research environment as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Epigenetics, where you will have the opportunity to advance your research career while contributing to impactful discoveries in a rapidly evolving field.     Key responsibilities will include:  

    • Research: Develop an emerging research profile in epigenetics through the delivery of high-quality research outputs, collaborative research projects and competitive funding applications. Publish in leading journals, apply best-practice research methodologies, and contribute to the translation of research outcomes into real-world impact.

    • Supervision and Researcher Development: Support the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, contribute to a positive and collaborative research culture, and provide mentoring, guidance and feedback to support researcher growth and performance.

    • Citizenship and Service: Contribute to the academic community through internal service roles, committee participation and administrative activities. Build productive relationships with industry, government and community stakeholders, support colleagues and team objectives, and demonstrate behaviours aligned with UQ's values.

    About You  

    You are an emerging researcher with a strong foundation in cancer biology and a passion for advancing our understanding of cancer progression and treatment resistance. With expertise spanning molecular and cellular biology techniques, you are eager to contribute to innovative research investigating the complex interactions between tumours and their microenvironment. You thrive in collaborative research settings, have a track record of delivering high-quality research outcomes, and are motivated to translate scientific discoveries into meaningful improvements in cancer treatment.

    In addition, you will have:

    • A PhD (or near completion) in cancer biology, molecular biology, epigenetics, biomedical science, or a closely related discipline.

    • Experience conducting research into cancer treatment resistance, metastasis, and the biological mechanisms that drive disease progression.

    • Knowledge of the tumour microenvironment, including tumour metabolism and hypoxia, and their roles in cancer development and therapeutic response.

    • Demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques and experimental design within a research environment.

    • Hands-on experience with spatial multi-omics wet-lab methodologies and associated sample preparation techniques.

    • Experience working with animal models, including animal handling and the application of relevant ethical and regulatory requirements.
