    The role/Te mahi

    As a Joiner/Carpenter in our Trade Services team, you will deliver high-quality construction, joinery, and maintenance work across the University of Otago’s Dunedin campus.

    Working across a diverse range of buildings and facilities, you will help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will work closely with facility managers, departmental staff, and contractors to coordinate installation, maintenance, and refurbishment work across campus.

    Successful candidates will:
    • Be a qualified tradesman joiner with experience in maintenance carpentry.
    • Have strong practical knowledge of the joinery, construction, and building sector.
    • Demonstrate a strong customer service ethic and commitment to quality workmanship.
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
    • Have sound knowledge of the Building Act, relevant building standards and regulations, and health and safety requirements.

    Joinery experience is a requirement; maintenance carpenter experience is an advantage.

    Property Services manages buildings with a replacement value of more than NZ$2.5 billion and oversees more than 22,000 hectares of land. Supporting over 3,500 staff and 20,000 students, the University operates much like a small city.

    Our team maintains and develops a diverse range of facilities, from state-of-the-art research laboratories and student accommodation to teaching spaces, restaurants, and cafés. No two days are the same.

    This is a permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) position, located in Dunedin.

    Hours are 7.30am – 4pm, Monday – Friday.

    The appointment range for this position is $71,277 to $85,902 per annum. The salary listed is the base rate - Overtime Rates, Tool Allowance, and Merit Band progression are available.
