Macquarie University Health (MQH) is embarking on one of its most significant digital transformations to date. As part of our 2025 to 2029 Digital Health Vision, we are reimagining how technology enables clinical care, research and teaching, with the goal of becoming a leading Academic Healthcare Institution. At the heart of this journey is the replacement of our core Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, a foundational enabler of the strategy.
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect (Health Domain) to provide strategic leadership and architectural oversight that ensures our technology investments, platforms and roadmaps align with the Digital Health Vision, operational priorities and target patient experiences. This is a rare opportunity to influence enterprise-wide technology strategy while playing a pivotal role on a landmark EMR program.
Reporting to the Director, IT Architecture, you will guide transformation initiatives across health functions, improving interoperability, simplifying complexity, strengthening governance, and enabling scalable, sustainable and secure digital services.
About the role
As an Enterprise Architect (Health Domain), you will develop and maintain the enterprise architecture across the health domain, ensuring current and future technology decisions support MQH objectives and the digital vision. You will:
Provide enterprise-wide architectural leadership to guide technology direction, simplify complexity, and align with organisational strategy and priorities.
Define, maintain and communicate the enterprise architecture vision, principles, standards and roadmaps, including current-state, target-state and transition architectures, capability models and strategic roadmaps.
Provide architecture governance and assurance for major programs, projects, procurements and technology investments, and review and endorse solution architectures for alignment with enterprise standards.
Contribute to architecture governance boards and design authorities, managing exceptions, risks and technical debt in a controlled and transparent way.
Partner with internal IT teams to rationalise, modernise and optimise the technology landscape, reducing duplication and managing lifecycle costs.
Ensure architecture decisions incorporate security, privacy, compliance, resilience and sustainability requirements.
Mentor and guide solution architects, domain architects and technical leaders to uplift architecture capability and consistency of practice.
