    As Academic Development Programs Manager, you will oversee and lead the development and delivery practical, flexible, professional development and mentoring programs, as well as pathways like Advance HE Fellowships to help develop and recognise our colleagues' expertise.

    This role is primarily based onsite, providing valuable face-to-face collaboration and team connection, while still offering flexibility to support work-life balance.

    About the Role

    As the Academic Development Programs Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of education designers, producers and project staff to create high-quality professional development programs, educational resources and capability-building initiatives. Working in close partnership with Macquarie Academy Fellows, faculties and central teams, you will drive scalable and innovative approaches to educational capability development, technology-enhanced learning and professional learning experiences aligned with the University's strategic priorities.

    Reporting to the Head – Macquarie Academy within the portfolio of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), you will:

    • Lead and manage the Education Design, Production and Project teams to deliver innovative, pedagogically effective professional development programs, learning resources and educational initiatives.

    • Provide guidance, coaching and development for education designers, media producers and project staff, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.

    • Partner with Macquarie Academy Fellows to translate educational strategy and academic expertise into engaging, scalable professional learning experiences and resources.

    • Collaborate with faculties and central university teams to identify educational capability priorities and develop solutions that align with institutional goals.

    • Oversee the design, development and delivery of professional development initiatives, including the Advance HE accredited Fellowship program, digital learning experiences, educational resources and multimedia content.

    • Lead project planning, workflow management and operational delivery to ensure initiatives are delivered effectively, efficiently and to a high standard.

    • Develop and maintain productive partnerships with stakeholders across the University to support cross-functional initiatives and enhance educational capability at scale.

    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of educational initiatives, using data, feedback and sector trends to inform continuous improvement.

    • Prepare analytical reports and data insights for university leadership and external regulatory bodies.

    You will have direct management of a team including Senior Education Designers (3), a Senior Production Specialist and a Project Officer, along with indirect reports.

    You are a collaborative and forward-thinking professional with extensive experience in higher education. You bring a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering impactful educational initiatives in complex environments. You thrive on partnership, enjoy translating strategy into practice, and are motivated by the opportunity to enhance educational experiences at scale.

    Selection Criteria:

    • Relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience in higher education, learning design, or a related field.

    • Demonstrated ability to operationalise and manage innovative initiatives and programs that enhance the student experience.

    • Project planning and operational capability, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives and balance competing priorities in a complex environment.

    • Demonstrated experience developing productive partnerships with academic staff, faculties and central teams to deliver collaborative initiatives.

    • Demonstrated ability to evaluate program effectiveness, collect and analyse relevant data, and translate insights into executive-level reports that inform decision-making and enhancement.
