    Job Description:

    • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
    • Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term
    • Remuneration: $88k - $100k base (+17% superannuation, leave loading)
    • Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.
    • Location: Kensington campus, NSW

    The Opportunity

    This position will provide administrative, technical, and research assistance to the Viral Immunology Systems Program (VISP) jointly based at the School of Biomedical Sciences and the Kirby Institute and will be responsible for designing and conducting research experiments, writing weekly/monthly report, and performing general programmatic administrative/coordination activities for the research team.

    Key skills and experience required:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in BSc or equivalent degree with experience in laboratory-based molecular or cellular biology research.
    • Experience in supporting ethics applications and institutional biosafety reporting.
    • Experience in maintaining biobanks and working in PC2 facilities.
    • Prior experience supporting a research project.
    • Demonstrated experience with general administration and coordination.
    • Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Well-developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
    • Demonstrated computing skills including word processing (MS word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and statistical analysis packages
    • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
