    Join UQ's Environment and Sustainability team and help shape environmental outcomes across one of Australia's largest and most diverse university environments.

    This is an opportunity to work across a broad portfolio including biodiversity, biosecurity, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, water and waste management, environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.

    Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you'll contribute to projects and programs that support environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance and UQ's long-term sustainability goals.

    In this role, you will lead and support a range of environmental and sustainability projects that contribute to regulatory compliance, risk management and environmental performance across the University. You will develop and implement programs and initiatives that enhance environmental protection, sustainability outcomes and responsible stewardship of UQ's campuses and operations.

    You'll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering meaningful environmental outcomes across a complex and diverse organisation.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Lead and deliver environmental and sustainability projects across biodiversity, biosecurity, emissions reporting, water and waste management. Developing and implementing projects and programs to address regulatory requirements, environmental risks and sustainability priorities, working with limited supervision.

    • Engaging and managing consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of outcomes.

    • Communicating project outcomes and environmental performance insights to a range of internal and external audiences, supporting informed decision-making and positive behaviour change.

    About You

    • A degree qualification in a relevant field such as environmental science, environmental management, engineering, business management, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

    • Demonstrated background expertise and subject matter knowledge in environmental management and compliance.

    • Sound understanding of environmental compliance matters, including biodiversity, biosecurity, environmental protection and greenhouse gas emissions.

    • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and deliver outcomes within scope and budget.

    • Well-developed analytical, report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

    • Proven ability to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to achieve shared outcomes.

    • A current open Queensland Driver’s licence.
