    PRIMARY DETAIL

    · Annual base salary from $114,992 - $124, 676 per annum (HEW Level 7) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
    · Full-time, continuing appointment
    · Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde

    This is an exciting opportunity to combine your expertise in collection development, procurement, and electronic resource management with strong people leadership skills. You'll work at the intersection of academic publishing, licensing, and library technology - ensuring our collections remain responsive, relevant, and aligned with institutional goals.

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Manager, Collection Strategies, you'll lead a team of five and collaborate with senior library managers, university finance, IT, and external partners including academic publishers and vendors. Your work will directly contribute to the continuous improvement of library services and the broader student and researcher experience at Macquarie.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Leading, coordinating, training, and empowering a team to achieve individual and organisational goals while contributing to continuous improvement of library services

    • Supporting the Manager, Collection Strategies in developing strategic directions for collection development, collection management, budgetary planning, and vendor relationships

    • Coordinating life cycle maintenance for electronic and print resources in accordance with national and international standards

    • Supporting compliance with copyright, vendor licensing, open access, and scholarly publishing legislation

    • Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders including academic publishers and vendors to ensure Library responsiveness to client needs

    • Coordinating the collection and analysis of relevant data to report on key trends and inform planning and development of services

    • Providing in-depth advice on procurement, electronic resources licensing, and resource access to library staff, academic staff, and students

    • Acting as a point of escalation for enquiries from senior Library management regarding procurement, licensing, vendor offerings, and the University's strategic goals in collection strategies

    About You

    You are an experienced library professional with good leadership capabilities and deep expertise in collection strategies, procurement, and electronic resource management. You thrive in collaborative environments and are skilled at navigating complex vendor relationships, licensing frameworks, and evolving scholarly publishing landscapes.

    Selection Criteria

    • A degree in an information management related discipline with experience leading teams or services in an academic or research library environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and qualifications/training

    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of library collection services functions, workflows, and practices — particularly in collection development, licensing, and procurement

    • Demonstrated knowledge of legal and regulatory issues associated with scholarly publishing, licensing, open access, intellectual property, and copyright

    • Extensive experience in integrated library management systems, technical services, and collection assessment and development workflows

    • Demonstrated skills working across multiple systems and programs, with intermediate to advanced proficiency in productivity software including data extraction and analysis

    • Experience building and managing relationships with external partners such as vendors, publishers, and system suppliers
