    Job Description:

    • Lead impactful programs that support Indigenous student success at a top university.
    • Shape student journeys with leadership, career pathways & global opportunities.
    • Identified position: This role is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, in accordance with Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).
    • Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 13 months.
    • Base salary range: $104,243 – $115,661 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

    About the area

    The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education (PVCIE) is responsible for leading the University of Western Australia’s Indigenous Education Strategy which encompasses all areas of the University’s activities. The PVCIE provides strategic leadership of the School of Indigenous Studies and is responsible for the operations and strategic developments of the Indigenous Student Services Team, the Berndt Museum, and the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. Through these entities the office has responsibility to deliver multi-disciplinary teaching and research programs and provide specialised support and services to current and future Indigenous students.

    Indigenous Student Services encompasses a number of core services delivered through the Indigenous Education Portfolio.

    About the opportunity

    • Manage and coordinate the recruitment, enrolment, orientation and ongoing support to Indigenous students and the Indigenous student experience.
    • Provide a high level of guidance and assistance to students on matters related to career and professional development and leadership opportunities including global study opportunities.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records in university systems.

    About you

    • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
    • Substantial relevant experience in program development and service delivery to Indigenous students.
    • Extensive knowledge of education systems in Western Australia and Indigenous higher education at local and national levels.
    • Well-developed understanding of relevant issues impacting on the successful transition to university of commencing students.
    • Demonstrated capacity to support students to develop the academic skills and competencies required to achieve academic success at the tertiary level.

    Note: Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current Working with Children Check, and “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.
