    Job Description:

    About This Opportunity

Join the Australian Women and Girls’ Health Research (AWaGHR) Centre, a collaborative and globally connected centre driven by a shared purpose to improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced research professional to contribute to high impact work that is shaping global understanding of menstrual health. The role sits within the School of Public Health and is based at our Herston campus.

As Principal Project Officer, you will play a central role in coordinating the delivery of complex international research projects that generate evidence to inform policy, investment and action. This includes supporting the Adolescent Menstrual Experiences and Health Cohort (AMEHC) study and the Architecture for Menstrual Health Indicators (AiMHI) collaboration, both of which are focused on strengthening cross context evidence to advance menstrual health outcomes.

Working in a dynamic and cross cultural environment, you will bring structure to complex projects and help ensure research is delivered with integrity, rigour and real world impact. You will work closely with senior researchers, partners and stakeholders across multiple settings, supporting collaboration, implementation and high quality project delivery. The role also requires a willingness and ability to undertake international travel to support global partnerships and project activities. Existing Australian work rights are required for this position.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Coordinating the end to end operational delivery of international research projects, ensuring timelines, methodologies, milestones and outcomes are achieved.

    • Managing research governance, ethics approvals and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

    • Supporting project monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities, including budget tracking and funder reporting.

    • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration across global partners, including training activities, workshops and stakeholder engagement.

    • Supporting senior study investigators by improving systems, coordinating workflows and helping maintain high standards of project delivery and research quality.

    About You

You are an organised and capable research professional with experience supporting complex research activities across multiple stakeholders, timelines and regulatory environments. You bring strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and a commitment to delivering high quality research support in a collaborative and fast paced setting. You are comfortable working across cultures and contexts, and you value the importance of strong relationships, clear communication and practical coordination.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

    • A postgraduate or undergraduate qualification in health, psychology and social sciences.

    • Relevant experience coordinating or delivering quantitative public health research and or clinical trials.

    • Demonstrated expertise in research governance, ethics and compliance processes.

    • Strong project management skills, including managing budgets, competing priorities and reporting requirements.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, edit research materials and work effectively with diverse stakeholders across cultural contexts.

    • Proven ability to work independently, use initiative and continuously improve processes in support of senior researchers.

    • Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff or students within a research environment.

    • A willingness and ability to undertake international travel, with experience in research delivery in low and middle income country settings viewed favourably.

We recognise that experience can vary, and even if you do not meet every requirement, we encourage you to reach out for a confidential discussion about this opportunity.
