Two full-time, permanent positions are available to commence in January 2027
The positions can be offered at Level B or C:
Academic Level B will be in the range $119,462 - $141,545 + 17% Superannuation
Academic Level C will be in the range $145,961 - $168,043 + 17% Superannuation

Join a vibrant and internationally recognised School where creativity, critical inquiry and scholarly excellence intersect. The School of Communication and Arts is seeking to appoint two outstanding academics as Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in English Literature.
We welcome applications from scholars working in any area of literary studies in English. Particular areas of interest may include:
Contemporary literature in English, particularly 21st-century fiction and/or poetry
Global and transnational literatures
Australian literature and literary cultures
Literary theory and innovative critical approaches including digital humanities and environmental humanities
Literary studies engaging with questions of gender, sexuality, identity, and diversity

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, engage with external stakeholders and partners, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
Applicants should possess a PhD in English Literature or a relevant field. Additionally, you will demonstrate:
Lecturer (Level B):
A growing profile in teaching and research in the discipline area.
A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
Experience in course coordination and contribution to the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.
Senior Lecturer (Level C):
An established profile in teaching and research in the discipline area.
National recognition in the area of expertise, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journal and presenting at conferences.
A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.
