    • Under Section 50 (D) of the Equal Opportunity Act we are seeking to employ Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander person
    • Part-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
    • Base salary range: $83,212 – $92,231 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

    Based at Boola Boola Djinda (many many stars) Centre for Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing, an Aboriginal-led centre within the medical school, the Aboriginal Research officer will play a vital role in connecting Elders health and wellbeing projects with local communities and Aboriginal Elders.

    About the opportunity

    • Promote awareness of community-based research projects and support Elders recruitment activities.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, community centres, and other referral partners
    • Undertake required training relevant to the research project, health and safety, and ethical Aboriginal health research practice.

    About you

    • Demonstrated experience working as an Aboriginal Health Worker or Aboriginal Health Practitioner or other relevant experience with Elders.
    • Demonstrated ability to work closely and respectfully with older Aboriginal community members, Aboriginal health services and other stakeholders.
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders.

    Note: Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current “C” class driver’s licence and own vehicle will be required by the successful applicant. There may be occasional travel within Perth. Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration (desired).

    Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage will be required for the successful applicant prior to appointment.
