    • Total Remuneration $139,486 to $154,893 pa (including salary of $117,868 to $130,887 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)

    Working at CQUniversity

     

    CQUniversity’s Office of Research is seeking a strategic leader to oversee the University’s research grants function, supporting academic staff to secure competitive funding and ensuring compliance with funding agreements and research contracts.

     

    In this role, you will lead and develop a high performing grants team, providing expert advice across grant applications, research contracts and post award administration. You will also negotiate research contracts and work closely with funding bodies, partner organisations and researchers to support successful research outcomes.

     

    You’ll contribute to growing research income by identifying funding opportunities, supporting researcher capability through training and development, and improving grant processes and reporting. The role also includes contributing to research policy development, maintaining accurate grant records in Research Master, and ensuring web content and internal processes remain current and compliant.

    Position Requirements

     

    • Extensive experience in research grants management, including application support, contract negotiation, contract management, post-award administration and compliance within a complex organisation.
    • Proven experience in leading and managing teams, including performance management, workload allocation, capability development and fostering a service-oriented culture.
    • Demonstrated experience in change management, continuous quality improvement and implementing process, system and reporting improvements to enhance efficiency, governance and service delivery.
    • Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with researchers, senior leaders, funding bodies and external partners.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk management skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and support sound decision-making.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of research funding policies, compliance requirements, budgets, contracts and governance obligations.
    • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience (Desirable).
