    • Classification: Level A - Base salary from $84,205 + 17% superannuation
    • This position requires the incumbent to hold a conferred PhD min. step 6 of Level A

    About the position

    La Trobe University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a Research Officer in Philosophy to work on the ARC Discovery Project “Virtual Reality and Knowing What It Is Like” (DP260102586). The successful applicant will also contribute to the coordination of the project’s research activities including potentially the organisation of seminars, a conference, and outreach activities.

    Skills and Experience

    To be considered for this position, you will have:

    • A completed PhD in Philosophy, or potentially a PhD in another discipline if the candidate’s PhD research aligns closely with the project’s themes.
    • Strong evidence—in the form of e.g., publications, conference presentations, and an excellent PhD thesis—of the candidate’s potential to develop and publish high quality research on the themes of the ARC Discovery Project “Virtual Reality and Knowing What It Is Like” (DP260102586).
    • Sound analytical skills with an ability to communicate complex information clearly both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to work independently and with senior colleagues to develop and fulfil a research plan that meets the priorities and expectations of the Discovery Project.
