    About This Opportunity

    We are seeking two Senior Facilities Officers to support the Faculty of Science’s diverse, high‑impact teaching and research environments. As part of a collaborative and service‑driven facilities team, you will work closely with staff and stakeholders to ensure laboratories, learning spaces and academic workplaces operate safely, efficiently and sustainably. This hands‑on, people‑focused role blends operational coordination with problem‑solving and continuous improvement, enabling the infrastructure that supports world‑class science at UQ.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Proactively identifying, coordinating and monitoring facilities maintenance, repairs and minor projects, ensuring works are logged, communicated and completed in a timely manner

    • Supporting infrastructure projects through contributions to planning, design reviews, contractor coordination and defect management

    • Managing space allocation, access control, keys and security arrangements in line with University and Faculty guidelines

    • Maintaining accurate records and systems relating to assets, space, equipment and facilities operations, while providing responsive customer service to a diverse range of stakeholders

    About You

    You will bring a practical, solutions‑focused approach to facilities and infrastructure support, combined with strong communication and organisational skills. You will also demonstrate:

    • A relevant Bachelor degree with subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience

    • Demonstrated experience coordinating facilities, infrastructure or asset‑related activities, including minor projects, contractors and service providers

    • Sound knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems within a scientific or technically complex building environment

    • The ability to interpret scientific or technical requirements relating to equipment or fixture installation, manufacture and repair, and communicate these clearly and effectively to non‑technical stakeholders, including staff and students

    • Strong customer service capability, with the ability to manage enquiries, resolve issues and build effective working relationships

    • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders

    • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail

    • Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to exercise initiative and judgement under broad direction
