    • Base salary will be in the range $83,698 - $111,431 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A)

    About This Opportunity 

    Join the School of Social Science at The University of Queensland as an Associate Lecturer (Teaching Focused) on a 0.45 FTE fixed-term appointment. This exciting opportunity will see you contribute to the undergraduate Anthropology program by teaching ANTH1008 Being Human: Cultural Diversity and Experience and ANTH2010 Critical Anthropology and Indigenous Australians courses in Semester 2. You will bring an emerging profile in innovative and effective teaching practice that enhances student learning and actively contribute to the collegial and collaborative life of the School.

    As this role is for a short, fixed-term contract and is based in Brisbane, we are not accepting applications from interstate or international candidates at this time.

    Key responsibilities will include: 

    • Teaching: Coordinate courses, develop and deliver lectures and tutorials, assess and mark students, maintain quality of courses, mentor students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.

    • Citizenship and Service: Engage with the collegial life and activities of the School, including thesis marking where relevant and School ad hoc working parties, perform administrative functions, and uphold University values.

    About You 

    Applicants should possess a PhD or near completion of a PhD in Anthropology. Additionally, you will demonstrate:

    • Demonstrated knowledge in a relevant field or sub-field of Anthropology.

    • Demonstrated ability to teach effective courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using active learning and flexible approaches to teaching, including teaching online.

    • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.

    • Capacity to use a range of online systems and platforms in teaching and learning (e.g. Blackboard, electronic course profiles etc.).
