The successful candidate will undertake research in robotics, human-robot interaction, and human-computer interaction, supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing cognition, mobility, and social connectedness in ageing populations. The role includes conducting independent research and co-supervising PhD candidates across multidisciplinary projects spanning engineering, IT, psychology, and health sciences.

Key responsibilities include generating novel research ideas and questions, algorithm development, and leading experimental design and execution. The Research Fellow will also manage end-to-end project activities, including study coordination, ethics applications and amendments, data collection, analysis, entry, and management, as well as maintaining high standards of research governance.

In addition, the role involves preparing and publishing research outputs, presenting at national and international conferences, and supporting the development of grant proposals and funding applications. The Research Fellow will track grant deadlines, assist in preparing submissions to funding bodies, and contribute to the supervision and mentoring of research assistants, students, and other research staff.

The ARC ITTC for Optimal Ageing is a multi-institutional, multidisciplinary initiative led by Monash University, focused on cognitive and digital health, robotics, and sensor-based technologies to promote independent, healthy, and socially connected ageing for older adults, carers and the aged care workforce.
