    About this opportunity

    As the Clinical Informatician, you will be a senior professional specialist providing clinical informatics expertise to support digital health and data‑enabled research initiatives at The University of Queensland. Working within the Data Science Collaborative Research Platform and in close partnership with Queensland Health, researchers, clinicians and external collaborators, this role is pivotal in translating complex clinical and research requirements into high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose digital and data solutions. This is an opportunity to contribute to impactful, purpose‑driven research that improves health outcomes through collaboration, innovation and evidence‑based practice.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Providing expert clinical and integrated electronic medical record (ieMR) system advice to enable digital health and data‑enabled research initiatives.

    • Working closely with researchers to understand research requirements and deliver informed, practical informatics solutions across the research life cycle.

    • Acting as a critical liaison between clinical, technical and research teams to translate requirements into clear documentation and solution designs.

    • Supporting clinical validation of data solutions to ensure quality and accuracy of the developed outputs

    • Supporting ethics, governance, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities to maximise research integrity and outcomes.

    About you

    You will bring strong clinical insight, advanced informatics capability and a collaborative, purposeful mindset, along with:

    • Qualifications from a clinical background such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy or allied health. Individuals with postgraduate training in digital health or clinical informatics will be highly regarded, or alternatively, an equivalent combination of experience and training.

    • Significant experience in business analysis and requirements gathering within large, complex organisations.

    • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to conceptualise and implement innovative solutions within defined frameworks.

    • Demonstrated experience documenting clear and precise requirements, process mapping (as‑is and to‑be) and solution descriptions in line with industry standards.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality research documentation and present complex information clearly.

    • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, technical and research teams.

    • Experience with PowerBI dashboard development and working with healthcare datasets will be highly regarded.
