    About This Opportunity

    As the Technical Lead, you will be a senior technical authority within Information Technology Services, contributing to the design, delivery and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure solutions at The University of Queensland. Working within the Infrastructure Engineering team, this role plays a pivotal part in UQ’s Cyber Security Program of Works, shaping secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure technology solutions that underpin the security of teaching, research and engagement across the University. You will operate in a collaborative, inquisitive and purpose‑driven environment, providing leadership and mentoring where required while partnering closely with stakeholders across the institution.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Providing senior expertise in the design and delivery of infrastructure solutions aligned to UQ’s cyber security transformation roadmap.

    • Leading and contributing to complex I.T. infrastructure projects aimed at uplifting Cyber security posture, including solution design, implementation and technical governance.

    • Acting as a trusted technical advisor across the University, engaging with diverse business and technical stakeholders to deliver secure and reliable IT solutions and services.

    • Mentoring and supporting team members through advanced technical guidance, problem solving and knowledge sharing.

    About You

    You will bring a strong blend of technical depth, leadership capability and collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence outcomes in a complex enterprise environment.

    You will demonstrate:

    • Qualifications equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and education.

    • Significant experience in technical solution design, implementation and delivery of IT infrastructure solutions, preferably within a cyber security transformation context.

    • Proven technical expertise across enterprise ICT infrastructure, including enterprise networking, virtualised environments, infrastructure automation, and public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. Exposure to SASE or other ZTNA based solution is highly desirable

    • Advanced capability in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in large‑scale environments.

    • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical and user documentation.

    • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience mentoring others and working effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

    • The ability to prioritise workload, work autonomously, and deliver outcomes within defined timeframes.
