PRIMARY DETAIL

· Salary: $43.39 per hour (HEW Level 2, step 1) + applicable superannuation
· Appointment Type: Casual work during the academic year, primarily on weekdays with the possibility of weekend work from time-to-time for events e.g. Open Day
· Location: Primarily at Macquarie University North Ryde campus with the possibility of other locations pending event and outreach locations

The Role

The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is seeking motivated, positive and engaged student ambassadors to join our Student Experience Team in Educational Services. These casual opportunities will provide assistance with student experience events and outreach activities aligned with science and engineering and will support a variety of straight-forward administrative, logistical, event coordination and promotional activities.

Reporting to the Student Experience Manager you will:

  • Assist with the set up/pack of student experience events, associated logistics and delivery

  • Provide general information/advice and assistance to students, parents and other stakeholders at events relating to studying in the faculty of science and engineering

  • Participate in campus tours and guiding participants around campus, provide support for interactive program activities and information sessions

  • Provide straightforward administration support for student experience activities including the collection of data and more complex administration activities under supervision 

  • Participate in social media activities such as appearing in promotional videos and photographs to promote the faculty

Eligibility:

  • A current undergraduate/postgraduate student in the faculty of science and engineering with a record of satisfactory academic standing i.e. completion of a minimum of 40 credit points with a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 or above

  • Holds or can obtain a Working with Children Check (paid employee type) as required following a formal offer  

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Under direction, the ability to undertake a variety of administration tasks with proficiency in Microsoft office 365 applications e.g. word, excel

  • Demonstrated capacity for and/or alignment with the university purpose, vision and values

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver tasks within timeframes

  • The ability to work both as part of a team and independently depending on task requirements

  • Awareness of the Faculty of Science and Engineering programs including: extra-curricular activities and student opportunities

  • Available to undertake light to moderate physical tasks including handling boxes of approximately 10 kg weight on a regular basis.

Desirable

  • Experience with social media, presenting, communicating to groups or customer facing work 

  • Involvement in a range of extra-curricular activities at university (e.g., student groups, sport, PAL, PACE or mentoring)
