PRIMARY DETAIL

Macquarie University’s world class Clinical Trials Unit is offering Clinical Trials traineeship opportunities. Gain skills, experience and certifications to kick start your clinical trial career.

  • Salary Package: $66,556 per annum (HEW Level 3), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading

  • Appointment Type:  Full-time, Fixed term 12-month program

  • Location: Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde) NSW

The Role

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals passionate about clinical trials. Be part of our Clinical Trials Trainee Program and get the opportunity to work with a world class Clinical Trials team in a supportive environment to do meaningful work whilst learning valuable skills and being exposed to all aspects of implementing Clinical Trials.

The structured program will run for 12 months including rotations with the clinical teams, start up team, quality assurance and laboratory teams of a busy clinical trials unit. The trainee will gain Good Clinical Practice and IATA accreditation and basic skills for an entry level position in clinical trials.

As a Clinical Trials Trainee, you will be expected to undertake entry level tasks assigned during the rotations and will gain skills in:

  • Collecting and accurately filing documents to maintain a clinical trial investigator site file

  • Submitting documents for Ethics review e.g. trial annual reports or trial amendments

  • Drafting preliminary budgets for a clinical trials based on a protocol schedule of events

  • Processing and shipping clinical trial samples to a central lab

  • Preparing a clinic list and preparing for a clinical trial patient visit

  • Collecting blood from a patient under direct supervision

  • Collecting and recording vital signs and an ECG on a clinical trial patient

  • Collecting and accurately recording concomitant medications and adverse events during a trial patient interview

  • Completing data entry for clinical trial patient visits and addressing database queries

  • Reviewing clinical trials records for inspection readiness

  • Tracking and reconciling patient reimbursement for clinical trial visits

About Us

The Macquarie University Clinical Trials Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences was set up in January 2013 to provide patients with opportunities to participate in the latest medical advances in cancer treatment. The Program has since continued to grow with research into a range of therapeutic areas drawing from the University’s research centres and works closely with industry sponsors to deliver timely access to cutting-edge therapies and investigations into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of diseases. We have a team of over 60 staff working on well over 120 clinical trials for investigators who are involved and committed to clinical trials. The team is well resourced and supported and has a highly collaborative team culture.
