The Role

Macquarie University is embarking on a search for a Program Director, a key role in the Digital Transformation Delivery portfolio, to lead the delivery of the program of work, ensuring efficient and effective project and program delivery and success in delivering transformation outcomes across the University.

Reporting to the Director of Digital Transformation Delivery, this role will build high performing teams and drive delivery of a key strategic program – Student 360 Program – to help the University achieve its outcomes and goals.

You will lead a variety of cross functional teams to deliver on the Program’s objectives. This will include overseeing the end-to-end development and implementation of functionality in our new Salesforce CRM system and associated transformation enablers.

The Program

Student 360 Phase 2 builds on the Student 360 Foundations Project (S360F) which went live on September 2024. S360F delivered the foundational capability of a new, consolidated, and secure student CRM – Salesforce Education Cloud – to allow effective connection to successfully support students throughout their journey.

S360 Phase 2 seeks to expand on the Salesforce capability and transformation delivered in S360. It will be implemented across 2025 and 2026, organised into two streams:

  • Phase 2a ‘Prospective Students’; and

  • Phase 2b ‘Corporate Engagement and Partnerships’.

Digital Transformation is one of the six fundamental commitments of the University Operating Plan: to embrace emerging technologies to better connect, engage, and collaborate. The core focus of the University’s Digital Transformation Roadmap and Strategy is enabling the objectives of Students First through five key focus areas, seeking to drive excellent experiences and outcomes in every dimension of students’ interactions with the University.

The Student360 Program delivers a student CRM (Salesforce) platform that will realise our ambitions for end-to-end student engagement and service delivery, and allow the University to:

  • Provide a unified, 360 view of each student that will enhance our ability to engage with them (including privacy protections and controls);

  • Support transformation of business processes, providing identification of opportunities for improved services to students and support service delivery;

  • Enable context-specific services and personalisation to successfully support students throughout their journey.

  • Provide a contemporary technology platform that can evolve with the changing needs and aspirations of the University and to truly connect with our students as individuals

  • Gain insights and analytics across the whole student journey to provide better metrics and inform improvements of university services and experience; and

  • Replace and decommission legacy systems.

About You

The successful candidate will have a proven track record at Program Director level, providing strategic leadership and governance in the provision of large-scale Digital Transformation project/program management in a higher education or similarly complex setting, including implementing enterprise-level business applications for larger (5,000+ FTE) institutions.

You will be a skilled negotiator and highly influential amongst both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders to drive optimal outcomes, as well as working collaboratively with your senior colleagues. This will also include working with external vendor teams.

You will use your prior experience effectively managing transformation teams within a complex multilayered organisation, with a key focus and skill in building high performing teams and effective team management, to enable your success in delivering transformation outcomes in this critical position. You will have demonstrable expertise able to manage changing/competing priorities as well as assessing and pre-empting risks and manage these accordingly.

You will be well versed in a broad range of technologies, frameworks and methodologies ie Salesforce/CRM technologies, Agile and DevOps CI/CD with proven experience on delivering programs of this complexity and scale ($30-40M budgets).
