The Role
Macquarie University is recruiting for a new Director Resources and Discovery to drive high-level strategic and operational leadership of the University Library, with specific responsibility for planning collections, library systems and research publication services supporting the University’s education and research aspirations.
Reporting to the University Librarian, you will work with colleagues as part of the Library’s management team to ensure effective, cohesive and inclusive leadership of the library. You will lead, develop and mentor a large team of professional staff within the library, role modelling and supporting the University and Library values.
You will contribute to business and financial planning to deliver an innovative, client-focussed and sustainable service that aligns with the library’s strategic direction and service model. Your leadership will be essential in implementing strategies, technologies and programs to improve discoverability, accessibility, and usability of information resources and research outputs.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and is the member of the University Executive with overall responsibility for the planning, quality and delivery of education provided to Macquarie's undergraduate and graduate students.

A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive experience in leadership and strategic planning of academic and research library services, or equivalent extensive experience and qualifications/training
A proven track record delivering impactful library services, particularly in collection development & management, scholarly communication, open scholarship, research data management and e-research
Sound knowledge of, and substantial experience managing, discovery services and library and research technologies
Extensive experience in financial management and resource allocation, including managing large and complex resource budgets involving international procurement
Demonstrated leadership capabilities including the ability to lead, motivate and develop effective and high performing teams
Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in negotiations, managing vendor and professional relationships
Exceptional communication and presentation skills and demonstrated excellence in business writing.
