PRIMARY DETAIL
We seek to appoint an exceptional researcher with a strong background in health services research to work across two funded projects on improving the organisational culture and quality of care in residential aged care facilities.THE ROLE
Salary Package: Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A), from $106,089 to $113,697 plus 17% employer's superannuation and leave loading
Appointment Type: Four days a week (0.8 FTE) or full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed term position for 1 year
Location: Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)
THE ROLE
The role will involve working across two projects in residential aged care facilities.
The first is a large mixed methods program funded by a National Health and Medical Research Council Investigator Grant that aims to measure, understand and improve organisational culture in residential aged care, conducted in collaboration with a large national provider of aged care services.
The second project is funded by the Macquarie University Research Accelerator Scheme and focuses on mapping the use of quality indicators in residential aged care for quality improvement, including identifying barriers and facilitators to their use.
The successful applicant will work within the Complex Systems and Implementation Science stream of the Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science, at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. They will collect and analyse data using mixed methods including interviews and surveys, work on literature reviews, ethics applications, grant applications, and contribute to journal articles and conference papers.
ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will be an established qualitative or mixed methods researcher who has completed a PhD in an area associated with the research, e.g., health sciences research, psychology, or social science. You should have experience in conducting studies in your field of expertise with excellent writing and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL:
A PhD in a relevant discipline such as psychology, social science or a clinical discipline.
Demonstrated understanding of the Australian health system.
A capacity to work with a range of stakeholders across healthcare including policymakers, managers, clinicians and consumers.
Demonstrated ability to undertake qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis.
Ability to make a useful contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Centre and Institute with evidence of effective teamwork and leadership.
DESIRABLE:
Demonstrated capacity to present papers at conferences and workshops.
Emerging track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Expertise in the drafting of final reports including journal articles and technical reports.
Experience in preparing ethics and site governance applications.
SPECIFIC ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
This role will require data collection onsite in residential aged care facilities. Researchers collecting data in this setting are required to undergo a criminal record check and provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations.
