An exciting opportunity to supervise students in the Masters of Clinical Psychology Program

THE ROLE

  • Salary Package: From $133,989 - $141,514 per annum, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading paid on a pro-rata basis

  • Appointment Type: Part-time (0.2 FTE), Continuing

The Role

Macquarie University Psychology Clinic is looking for a suitable qualified psychologist to join its team of supervisors. The role would be primarily supervising students enrolled in the Masters of Clinical Psychology program, but may also involve collaborative work with students involved in other post-graduate psychology programs. The role would involve supervising students as they conduct psychometric assessments, group work and therapy cases.

About You

The successful applicant will be passionate about providing training and mentoring to psychologists in training, and be able to balance support for your students and commitment to maintaining the high standards required of psychologists in training at Macquarie University. You will have experience in conducting common psychometric assessments and a dedication to staying at the forefront of evidence-based practice. You will be able to supervise students in various therapeutic modalities, with a strong emphasis on CBT-based interventions.

About Us

The Macquarie University Psychology Clinic which is part of the School of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University, is a training clinic and offers specialised psychological services to the general community. The clinic is staffed by Provisional/Psychologists who have completed their undergraduate training in psychology and are undertaking post-graduate training in specialised areas to become Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists.

The School of Psychological Sciences is ranked in the top 75 Psychology Departments in the world and is at the forefront of excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement. We offer accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Psychology with the largest suite of postgraduate programs in New South Wales. The Macquarie University Psychology Clinic (MUPC) is a training clinic situated within the School of Psychological Sciences for students currently enrolled in the Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Clinical Neuropsychology courses.

The School sits under the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) whose current education suite includes courses in clinical science, physiotherapy, medicine, exercise and sports science, public health, psychology, cognitive sciences, linguistics, audiology, and speech pathology. The Faculty forms part of MQ Health, an integrated academic health sciences enterprise which incorporates Macquarie University Hospital and primary and speciality clinics.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology including a Master of Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.

  • Currently registered as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsed in clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology for a minimum of 3 years, and with recency of practice in the field.

  • Currently approved as a supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Proven strong written and oral communication skills including ability to write industry reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines at short notice.

  • Proven experience working collaboratively, with academic, professional and administrative teams, with excellent self-motivation and time management, to deliver successful outcomes.

  • Availability and flexibility to work on a rostered system to cover the operational hours of MUPC on designated workday(s).

  • Demonstrated experience supervising and/or mentoring psychologists in evidence-based therapy methods including CBT-based interventions.

  • Capable of supervising psychometric battery of tests and psychometric assessment reports

Specific role requirements

This position requires criminal record and qualifications checking. Employment in this position is conditional upon holding a Working with Children Check Clearance.
