Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer (Critical Care, Sutherland Hospital campus)

  • Employment Type: Part - time (7 hours a week)
  • Duration: Continuing
  • Remuneration: $123k - $172k base (+17% super and a clinical loading may be applicable)
  • Work rights required: Australian/New Zealand Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
  • Location: Sutherland hospital, Sydney

St George & Sutherland Clinical Campus:

The St George and Sutherland Clinical Campuses work closely with the hospitals and their highly committed staff appointed as UNSW conjoints at these sites. They integrate tightly with the delivery of clinical care to the region’s patients. Together they deliver and build the teaching and, with the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation, the research contributions of UNSW in the region. The campus is part of the Kogarah Health and Knowledge Precinct.

This Lecturer/Senior Lecturer role provides educational leadership and clinical teaching on the Sutherland Hospital campus, with a preference for a Critical Care field of specialisation. The appointee to this position will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities

Who you are:

Level B

  • A Higher Degree in an educational discipline, and/or relevant work experience
  • Medical qualification registerable in NSW and specialist training, with a preference for a critical care background
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, in either a tertiary or hospital setting.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning

Level C

  • Demonstrated ability to provide expertise and academic leadership within the discipline of medicine, surgery or emergency/critical care, or a relevant sub-disciplinary area
  • Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives
