About the position

This position is in the Enabling Programs team, part of the Widening Participation and Outreach department within the Office of the Provost. Widening Participation and Outreach is responsible for activities and programs that inform post-secondary school aspiration and access to university students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, and Enabling Programs is the academic unit that supports university entry for aspiring students without a traditional entry pathway. The team delivers the Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP), one of Victoria’s major Enabling Programs, as an ATAR-alternative pathway program for school students (Aspire Prepare) and plays a key role in supporting the University’s equity mission.

Reporting to the Lecturer, Enabling Programs, the Associate Lecturer, Enabling Programs, works with another Associate Lecturer and casual academic staff to deliver teaching and support in the Tertiary Preparation Program, a pre degree Fee Free Uni Ready program, and the Aspire Prepare program. The incumbent is responsible for teaching and grading, subject maintenance and rollover, and taking part in Zoom catchups with students as well as orientation sessions.

The academic programs (TPP and Prepare) are taught entirely online. The subjects are asynchronous but intensively taught, using supportive and scaffolded developmental feedback on frequent, low stakes assessments to develop learner confidence and academic skills. Experience in an innovative online learning environment will be highly valued.
