Job Description:

  • Full-time, fixed term position for three (3) years

Reporting to the Director, Student Administration, this role involves high-level leadership and strategic oversight of the university's admissions and scholarships functions.

The primary responsibility is to align divisional activities with the university’s strategic priorities, ensuring that plans address both current and future requirements.

The position oversees the admissions and scholarships teams, ensuring smooth operations, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of services. This includes regular performance reporting, using analytics to monitor progress, and driving improvements in the admissions process from application to enrolment.

The position requires innovative problem-solving and risk management skills, that ensure high-quality and compliant services are delivered in line with institutional requirements. A key aspect is building proactive and responsive networks across the institution to ensure seamless operations and that stakeholder expectations are met.

The position requires flexibility in responding to changing demands, with a focus on building and leading effective teams. The role must stay informed about the external higher education environment, adapting programs and systems to maintain their relevance and competitiveness.

The position includes responsibility for leading major projects and initiatives with significant strategic impact, representing the university externally in sector groups and negotiations, and partnering with other university offices, such as the Alumni and Advancement Office, to support scholarship funding.

Skills and Experience

This role requires a senior leader with extensive experience in the Australian higher education sector or related industry, ideally with advanced qualifications. The candidate must possess strong leadership skills, including the ability to direct and control the work of other managers, resolve conflicts, and foster a performance-oriented culture. A deep understanding of the regulatory environment, particularly in Admissions and Scholarships programs, is essential, along with the ability to navigate legislative and compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills are necessary to motivate teams, build collaborative relationships across the university, and engage with peers to determine best practices in program delivery.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity, drive, and a commitment to modeling professional behaviors, while effectively managing human and material resources. They must have experience in strategic policy development and implementation, influencing the university's direction. The role also requires the ability to build partnerships with diverse groups and guide the professional development of staff.
