(Level B) $111,031 to $131,335 or (Level C) $135,388 to $155,696 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Continuing full time position available immediately.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Biostatistics (equivalent to US Assistant Professor) to make a significant contribution to our teaching and research programs. This is an outstanding opportunity for an academic with a developing or established track record in biostatistics to continue their professional development with a School renowned for its high-quality teaching and research. The successful applicant will contribute to teaching introductory and advanced biostatistical courses offered in several degree programs by the School of Public Health, and contribute to or develop a program of methodological, applied, and collaborative research.

The School of Public Health in The University of Adelaide comprises a vibrant group of academics and research groups that facilitate the study of public health. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • develop, revise, coordinate, deliver, and assess introductory and advanced biostatistics courses to students in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, using both face to face and on-line delivery.
  • conduct research in your area of expertise.
  • contribute to research that enhances the profile of the School, including publication in journals of high standing, pursuing research grants, presentation and dissemination of research findings through appropriate channels.
  • supervise research projects and higher degree by research students.
  • foster productive relationships and collaborations within the University and with external parties (including research partners, government and professional bodies, and industry).
  • contribute to academic administration

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD or equivalent research higher degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Evidence of research ability with a record of high quality research achievements relative to opportunity.
  • The ability to teach statistics or biostatistics effectively in face to face or online teaching modes that promote student engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with both students and staff and across disciplines in the health and medical sciences.
  • The ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team and carry out administrative duties, as directed by the Head of School.
