Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is looking to appoint a Lecturer, Occuptational Therapy within the College of Healthcare Sciences (CHS). This position is offered on a Full time, 3-year fixed term basis and is based at our Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

As a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and innovative curriculum development while advancing research that contributes to the health and well-being of diverse communities. You will work closely with students, colleagues, and industry partners to ensure graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and real-world experience to thrive in contemporary healthcare settings.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD (or progress toward completion) in Occupational Therapy or a closely related field.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an Occupational Therapist in Australia.
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development in higher education.
  • A track record of research outputs or the potential to develop a strong research profile.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

The College of Healthcare Sciences promotes, fosters, supports and administers quality teaching and research at JCU in the areas of Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Midwifery, Psychology, and Sport and Exercise Science. Working in a collaborative leadership model with the Office of the Division, the other Colleges and the Centre for Rural and Remote Health, the College of Healthcare Sciences contributes to advancing the strategic agenda and to strengthening partnerships and engagement.
