We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Pathology to join our team at the Cairns Clinical School within the College of Medicine and Dentistry based in the Cairns CBD.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Starting in early 2025 you will contributes to curriculum development, teaching and assessment of Pathology for medical students in year 4 of the MBBS program at Cairns City Campus. You will develop and implement the pathology component of the Year 4 program for Cairns, in conjunction with other academic staff in Cairns, and the Townsville based staff of Anatomy and Pathology. This involves providing interactive teaching in Pathology to Year 4 students at the end of each system-based learning session. You will assist with assessment and exams and liaises with other academic staff with regard to individual student performance.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  1. Eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner within Australia.
  2. Substantial clinical experience in pathology.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of issues relevant to the provision of academic and clinical services in rural and regional areas
  4. Demonstrated record of teaching and assessment at the undergraduate level
  5. Highly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to contribute to a multi-disciplinary environment.

Desirable

  1. Demonstrated understanding of issues relevant to the provision of academic and clinical services in rural and remote areas.
  2. Demonstrated experience or skills in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander paediatric health care.
