This role sits in our UNSW Legal & Compliance Office, supporting the University to navigate legal matters across all areas.

Why Your Role Matters
Bringing your expertise in legal technology, legal operations and/or legal project management, you will lead the development and integration of legal technology systems into our daily operations ensuring we meet stakeholder needs and compliance obligations.

In this newly developed role, you will lead the design, configuration, and implementation of a digital roadmap, including a primary focus on our Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system, rolling out a forward-thinking legal technology strategic approach to implement time-saving processes and drive operational excellence and efficiency throughout the organisation across our legal and compliance practices.

Key role priorities include:

  • Driving the strategic vision for legal technology within the Legal & Compliance team.
  • Overseeing daily operations of the CLM, matter management, document management systems, and other legal tech tools.
  • Training new users and provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and license management.
  • Leveraging data analytics to create dashboards and reports that enhance transparency and provide commercial insights.
  • Continuously review and improve processes to maximize efficiency and align with stakeholder needs.
  • Developing a comprehensive technology roadmap for the Legal & Compliance team, staying updated on emerging legal technologies.

This role reports into the Project Lead – Legal Operations,and is supported by 2 direct reports to manage day-to-day legal technology administration.

Skills & Experience Summary: You will hold a relevant qualification in law, project management, business or IT, or equivalent level of knowledge, with existing experience across AI, commercial contracts and legal operations alongside:

  • Sound technology skills, well-versed in legal enterprise software, tools, and applications, proficient in contract management, legal matter management and document management tools.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering legal technology projects and/or have a high level of experience in program management, planning and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in data analytics using tools like Excel and/or Power BI, including the ability to analyse and interpret datasets to derive insights and trends.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint, and highly desirable to have skills in the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Sound knowledge and of and ability to utilise change management practices to facilitate transitions related to technology, processes and people.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical and timely solutions to address client needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and foster and influence relationships with team colleagues and with staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches and to solve complex problems.
  • High level of attention to detail, an ability to organise and appropriately prioritise tasks, and to deliver work within tight timeframes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a calm, considered approach.
  • Collaborative and team orientated with proven ability to quickly establish and maintain a high level of personal and professional credibility at a senior level and with the Legal & Compliance team, while also having the ability to work independently and with initiative
