Job Description:

We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

Join La Trobe University's School of Computing, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences as a Lecturer in Computer Science and IT. We are seeking a driven academic with a commitment to excellence in teaching and a research focus on AI applications in the medical and health sectors.

About the Role:

As a Lecturer, you will:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, high-quality tutorials, practical classes, and workshops.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation and pedagogy in computer science.
  • Publish impactful research independently or as part of a team, focusing on AI, big data, and cloud technologies.
  • Supervise and mentor postgraduate students in research.
  • Actively seek external funding for research projects.

What You Bring:

  • A PhD in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and curriculum development skills.
  • A track record of impactful research publications in AI, data, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
