  • Base salary will be in the range $134,845 - $155,426 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level C)

About This Opportunity 

Exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre for Policy Futures under the Work Futures and Economic Security theme. As a Senior Research Fellow, you will engage in research and leverage of your established record of achievement and national recognition in your discipline to develop your international reputation. At this level, it is expected that you will perform high-level service and engagement roles and activities.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Research: Promote interdisciplinary research on work futures, labour markets, economic security, and income equalities. Develop a research program to achieve national recognition and impact, produce quality research outputs in reputable journals and contribute as chief investigator in applications for research funding, and utilise best practice mixed method research methodologies.

  • Teaching: Where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is undertaken, achieve teaching quality as indicated by surveys and outcomes for students and improve or innovate in response to feedback.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.

  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in Sociology or Social Policy, Economics, Business Economics or a related discipline area:

  • A growing profile of research excellence in the following areas: work and new technologies, employment, care work, labour markets, employment services, economic security, and/or income inequality.

  • Highly skilled design and implementation of mixed methods applied social science research, with core capabilities in designing and using quantitative methods in applied research.

  • A developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.

  • A record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and education check.
