About the Role
This joint role between the Melbourne Centre for Clinical Trials (MCCT) and the Melbourne Academic Centre for Health (MACH) offers a unique opportunity to help develop and shape a new clinical trials centre – the MCCT – and provide oversight of collaborative clinical trials facilitation activities across MACH partners. As the Clinical Trials Manager for both Centres, you will be instrumental in building the MCCT, while collaborating with over 20 partners including: hospitals, medical research institutes, government entities, and potentially international stakeholders. This position offers significant autonomy to influence the direction of the newly developed centre, ensuring best practices and compliance with NHMRC requirements while driving strategic goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high level advice, analysis, and recommendations to support the preparation of key strategy documents, effective and influential submissions, reports, and high impact presentations.
  • Assist MACH partners with the development and implementation of research initiatives of relevance to members including marra ngarrgoo, marra goorri - Victorian Aboriginal Health, Medical and Wellbeing Research Accord.
  • Lead projects through advanced decision making to harmonise clinical trial governance across MACH partners and liaise with other Victorian health services through the Hospital Research Managers and Directors committees.
  • Provide strategic input and subject matter expertise into the Australian Clinical Trials Education Centre (A-CTEC).

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in research and clinical trials, with a proven ability to provide high-level communication, coordination, and governance support. They will excel in fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration among diverse stakeholders, delivering strategic advice, and leading initiatives across clinical and academic settings. Their expertise in synthesising complex information and producing influential reports and presentations will be key to driving impactful outcomes.

You will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  • Comprehensive experience and understanding of how the conduct of clinical trials could be improved and/or be more efficient through shared resources/staffing, etc. across the MCCT/MACH partners.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to prioritise competing projects and demands.
  • A strong track record of being able to engage and influence at multiple levels of an organisational with a focus on delivery and stakeholder management.
