Why your Role Matters
We are seeking a Business Integration Consultant holding extensive experience as a Payroll Manager/ Specialist in a complex matrix environment to join our newly developed HR Strategic Project Team. Bringing a practiced upstream/downstream understanding of the payroll lifecycle, you will play a leading role in transitioning project outcomes into functional and sustainable BAU practices that support pivotal organisational goals to improve efficiency, compliance and pay confidence.


You will provide expert guidance to create a comprehensive integration roadmap strategy that ensure business processes, systems, and technologies are streamlined and enhance current practices whilst upholding regulatory and statutory obligations. You will be instrumental in developing human- centered solutions that improve the user’s ability to deliver their role at UNSW.

Reporting directly to the HR Director, Strategic Projects, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, HR, and IT and make a significant impact on how we work at UNSW, promoting sustainable and agile practices.

Skills & Experience summary: You will hold a relevant qualification, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience across payroll and business transformation/optimisation projects, bringing a good understanding of HR operations to offer a holistic and broad view to our HR Strategic Project Team, alongside the following:

  • Extensive experience as a Payroll Manager or Specialist in a complex matrix environment.
  • Strong understanding of change management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across multi-function teams
