Salary: Level A – $83,468 - $113,262 p.a. plus 17% super
- Conduct high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) research to gain insights into roughness effects on film-cooling effectiveness in turbine flows

About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join a groundbreaking research programme leveraging the world's most powerful supercomputing capabilities. You will spearhead simulations that push boundaries and revolutionise our understanding of film cooling effectiveness, shaping the future of efficient, environmentally-friendly aircraft propulsion systems. Work alongside a team of innovative experts driving transformative change in this critical field.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Research training (e.g. mentoring and supervision of PhD students)
- Supervising junior research staff in the appointee’s area of expertise
- Developing effective timelines and milestones based on goals of the research programme
- Developing extended capabilities of the existing in-house numerical tools.
Who We Are Looking For
We're looking for highly motivated individuals driven by the opportunity to conduct pioneering research that pushes boundaries and makes a significant impact. Candidates should demonstrate innovation, technical excellence, and a passion for advancing scientific understanding.
You will also have:
- A completed or nearly completed PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or closely related discipline
- Experience in computational fluid dynamics, including LES / DNS of transitional / turbulent compressible flows, especially over roughness
- A record of quality research as evidenced by publications in leading journals and at conferences commensurate with opportunity

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
