Job Description:

Student Admissions Officer – Fixed Term (24 months), Part-Time (3 days per week) 

AFTRS is the national screen and audio school – the only Australian education institution to consistently make The Hollywood Reporter‘s prestigious annual list of the top film schools in the world. Working hand-in-hand with the screen and broadcast industries, AFTRS is a global centre of excellence that delivers the highest level of screen and audio education, training and research across Australia.  

We are looking for an experienced Student Admissions Officer to join our Partnerships & Development team. You will ensure the effective, accurate and timely recruitment and admission of students into AFTRS. This role will undertake the domestic and international student admissions processes and requires strong attention to detail and accuracy in the processing of applications and recordkeeping. 

The Student Admissions Officer will manage complex correspondence with applicants and may be required to represent AFTRS at key prospective student events and contribute to other student recruitment activities. You will implement admissions practices and communications that increase inclusion of groups typically under-represented and marginalised in higher education.  

This role may be required to travel domestically and work outside normal working hours. 

 

About the role: 
As the Student Admissions Officer at AFTRS, you will: 

  1. Review and validate all applications for AFTRS award courses ensuring applicants meet the admission requirements. This includes a working knowledge of the Australian Qualifications Framework and how it may apply.  
  2. Manage correspondence with applicants ensuring information needs are met, and applications are successfully submitted with correct supporting documentation.  
  3. Coordinate the process of applicants taking up deferred offers, including timely communications and recordkeeping.   
  4. Work collaboratively with academic assessors to ensure they are onboarded and supported to meet assessment deadlines.   
  5. Coordinate the interview process where required as part of a course application.  
  6. Undertake research and analysis of AFTRS course application data, and competitor benchmarking to assist better decision-making.  
  7. Identify improvements in the AFTRS Admission process and systems, and work with the Student Admissions Lead to implement improvements.  
  8. Support Student Recruitment activities at key times including the management of prospective student enquiries, and representing AFTRS at events and expos.  
  9. Create and maintain culturally and psychologically safe learning and working environments.

Salary: AFTRS Level 5 ($76,330) + up to 15.4% super, and excellent benefits. Please note: the FTE salary quoted will be paid pro-rata, based on 3 days per week + up to 15.4% super, and excellent benefits.

Job Requirements:

About you – you have: 

  1. Proven success in a similar role, preferably in a higher education admissions context.  

  1. A sound working knowledge of admissions systems and CRMs, preferably Salesforce.  

  1. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.  

  1. Strong organisational skills with the proven ability to prioritise and work to deadlines in a high-volume context.  

  1. Strong communication skills and proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.  

  1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team and with diverse stakeholders.  

  1. Experience in creating and maintaining culturally and psychologically safe learning and working environments.
