We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Information Technology to join our team at the College of Science and Engineering in the Academy.

  • Full-time; continuing
  • Academic Level B or C $106,593 - $148,787 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • Located at the picturesque Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus in tropical North Queensland.
  • Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The College of Science and Engineering is a comprehensive provider of world class research and undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a range of science, technology and engineering disciplines.

As part of the Academy, the College of Science and Engineering promotes, supports and administers quality teaching, hands-on experiences, industry placements and research at JCU in the areas of Marine Biology & Aquaculture, Zoology and Ecology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Planning, Information Technology, Physical Sciences, and Engineering.

About the role

Working with a diverse team of academics and researchers, you will foster excellence in teaching and research, whilst contributing to curriculum development and coordinating IT programs and marketing and outreach support for the Discipline. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will collaborate with a range of industry and other stakeholders to identify and develop opportunities for innovation-driven partnerships.

What you can bring to the role

  • A PhD qualification or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or related areas.
  • Established expertise in contemporary Information Technology research in particular in AI/Cloud Computing/Cybersecurity and the application thereof to a broad range of industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in research through publications in high-quality journals/conferences and in attracting research grants.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in Information Technology, Computer Science and related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success or capacity to attract competitive research funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize and conduct research projects and conduct collaborative, multi-disciplinary research within team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated capacity of communicating technical concept to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, evidenced through experience with working effectively in teams, engagement with industry, community agencies and professional bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to outreach and marketing activities in support of a university, government department, research organization or other institutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, teaching and coordination of programs with active, flipped class room, blended learning settings. (Desirable)
  • A track record of engagement in innovation-driven opportunities in research and/or industry environments. (Desirable)
