About the position

Dr. Margaret Nayler was a physiotherapist and former Dean of the School of Physiotherapy at La Trobe University until 1995. She was dedicated to physiotherapy teaching and research at La Trobe University and was an Australian Physiotherapy Association member for 67 years. Margaret played a key role in the establishment of the Journal of Physiotherapy - becoming the editor of the journal in 1981.

This research fellowship is funded from Margaret’s bequest, after she passed away in 2022. The fellowship aims to honour Margaret’s contribution to physiotherapy education and research at La Trobe University and beyond, by facilitating high quality research in physiotherapy scholarship of learning and teaching.

The position will work with the Physiotherapy Discipline Lead, and the Physiotherapy Research Coordinator, to identify priorities for coordinating and implementing a program of research aligned with the aims of the fellowship.

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a PhD in a relevant area.
  • A record of publications and conference presentations that provide evidence of strong research potential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Experience in the preparation of research proposal and ethics submissions, and funding applications to internal or external funding bodies.
  • Experience with research designs relevant to scholarship of learning and teaching research, such as surveys, qualitative research, benchmarking, observational studies, and clinical trials.
  • Must be registered with AHPRA as a Physiotherapist.
