We now have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory and Technical Support Advisor (Pharmacy) to join our Laboratory and Technical Support team in the Academy.

  • Full-time continuing, 36.25hrs per week
  • Located at the picturesque Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus in tropical North Queensland
  • $85,816 - $92,948 plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • Relocation assistance may be negotiated

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Laboratory and Technical Support Advisor (Pharmacy) provides expert advice and support to the Pharmacy undergraduate compounding and practice laboratories, ensuring both staff and students receive a high-quality, hands-on education experience. This role ensures that all teaching activities are executed efficiently and adhere to established procedures and deadlines across multiple campuses. Additionally, the role maintains compliance with safety and hygiene standards, oversees the management of scheduled drugs and poisons, and provides essential guidance on laboratory policies and best practices. This position is also responsible for enhancing service delivery through continuous improvement activities, supporting academic research, and maintaining cutting-edge teaching equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Degree qualifications in Pharmacy or chemistry and related experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience in a Pharmacy laboratory with knowledge of related policy and procedures, including use of laboratory equipment.
  3. Proven understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation and its practical application to deliver a safety compliant work or learning environment.
  4. Demonstrated functional supervisory skills with the ability to show leadership, oversee the delivery of quality performance outcomes, and engage staff to achieve targets and improve safety performance.
  5. Significant organisational, problem solving and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines, and an established record of exercising judgement and initiative in a complex work environment.
  6. Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain highly effective working relationships, including demonstrated ability to consult and liaise with staff from all levels of University and external parties.

Special Conditions

  • This position may provide functional supervision on occasion to visitors or new staff.
  • It is a requirement of these positions to hold:
    • Current First Aid Certificate;
    • Current C’ Class Queensland driver’s license; and
    • Current Working with Children Blue Card.
